Recap: Vanlue Wildcats vs. Northwood Rangers
The Vanlue Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 41-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northwood. While losing is never fun, Vanlue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 718th, while Northwood is ranked 281st).
Vanlue's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mara Simon, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Brooks, who scored 14 points.
Northwood had a senior duo take command as Autumn Schroeder dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds and Natalie Thompson scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was Thompson's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Vanlue's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Northwood, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Vanlue will be home for the holidays to greet Ada at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ada is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Northwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
