Softball Recap: Plainfield East Beats Naperville North for Their Seventh Straight Win

It's playoff time, and Plainfield East had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Naperville North Huskies by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Bengals sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

The result came thanks to Jocelyn Cushard's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Plainfield East saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Iliana Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Smith a new career-high. Ashley Plzak was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Plainfield East's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Naperville North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-23 record this season.

Plainfield East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Yorkville on the 30th. Naperville North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
