The Clearfield Bison will face off against the Forest Hills Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clearfield is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Clearfield's last matchup with Philipsburg-Osceola could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The Bison lost 9-3 to the Mountaineers.
Kam Kushner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Hayden Rumsky also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Forest Hills). Everything went their way against Bishop Carroll on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-3 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Xander Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Richardson was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three triples, four runs, and one RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Forest Hills got a massive performance out of Bryce Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Roberts a new career-high in doubles (two). Nate Cornell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Forest Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Forest Hills pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Clearfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Clearfield beat Forest Hills 7-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2015. Do the Bison have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rangers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
