The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Kearney Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Lincoln Southwest was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Fremont.

Despite their loss, Lincoln Southwest saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Uzziah Sanders, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 20 points, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Sanders' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakari Wilson, who posted ten points and six boards.
Even though they lost, Lincoln Southwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Kearney took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 79-41 victory over Columbus. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.
Lincoln Southwest better keep an eye on Jacob Webber. He was instrumental in Kearney's win, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points. Webber has been hot, having posted 19 or more points the last eight times he's played. Turner Bertrand was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Kearney has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Lincoln Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lincoln Southwest has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kearney struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lincoln Southwest was able to grind out a solid win over Kearney in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 81-68. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Kearney's Ben Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds.
