Basketball Recap: Smyer Bobcats vs. Sundown Roughnecks
Smyer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sundown Roughnecks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-18 back in December of 2024.
Sundown can attribute much of their success to Kye Powell, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points. Powell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Briar Miller, who posted ten points.
Smyer's record now sits at 5-13. As for Sundown, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 5-12 record.
Smyer has already played their next game (against Morton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sundown will square off against Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plains will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Sundown surely won't give up without a fight.
