Baseball Game Preview: Floyd Broncos vs. Dora Coyotes

Floyd hasn't had much luck against Dora recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Broncos will be playing at home against the Coyotes at 10:00 a.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

While Floyd is heading in to the contest without a victory, things might be looking up considering their last matchup was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Elida.

Brayden Parks and Archer Knox did some serious damage despite the final result: Parks went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Knox went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Knox has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Reiley Melton, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last six games, Dora finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They came up short against Gateway Christian, falling 15-0.

Dora's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Floyd, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Floyd has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Floyd might still be hurting after the 20-14 defeat they got from Dora when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
