Softball Recap: Rubidoux's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Rubidoux's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Norte Vista Braves 16-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mary-Jane Ortega made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ortega was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Davina Sandoval was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Megan Pelaez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Rubidoux was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They are 7-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rubidoux's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 7-11. As for Norte Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14-1 record this season.

Rubidoux will have a chance to go back-to-back against Norte Vista: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
