Softball Recap: Newcomb Takes a Loss

Newcomb was the 14-5 winner over Shiprock when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Skyhawks came up short against the Chieftains on Wednesday, falling 22-3. The Skyhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newcomb's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Shiprock, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16.

Coming up, Newcomb will take on Tohatchi at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Shiprock, they will face off against Kirtland Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight.
