Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Westlake's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Westlake proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 29) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the American Fork Cavemen 36-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunder also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Westlake was led to victory by Isley Sauvao and Mia Foster. Sauvao posted 11 points and three steals, while Foster put up six points and three steals. That's the most steals Sauvao has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Janiece Sikander, who scored five points and seven rebounds.

Westlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for American Fork, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Westlake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-52 win against Lone Peak on the 24th. American Fork has also already played their next contest (against Skyridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
