Basketball Recap: Griffin Urdarovski's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Newark Catholic over Northridge

Newark Catholic lost against Northridge back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Newark Catholic Green Wave fell just short of the Northridge Vikings by a score of 56-54. Even though they lost, the Green Wave's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Urdarovski, who posted 12 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Urdarovski is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Dylan Daube, who earned 11 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Even though they lost, Newark Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Newark Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Northridge, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Newark Catholic will head out to take on Bishop Rosecrans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Newark Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Northridge, they will host Bishop Ready at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Ready will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Northridge surely won't give up without a fight.
