            Softball Preview: Point Arena Pirates vs. Willits Wolverines        
        
		
        
        
            The Point Arena Pirates will head out to  square off against the Willits Wolverines  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Both come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
Point Arena is headed into the  matchup having just  posted their closest  win since May 3, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  team sidled past Tomales  10-8.
 Jade Swan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out seven batters over  three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  runs.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Hattie Piper, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, three  stolen bases,  and six  RBI. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in May of 2024.  Serina Azbill was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run, two  RBI,  and one  double.
 Willits played against Technology on Tuesday and won via forfeit.
 The  win made it two in a row for Willits and  bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2  run in those games. As for Point Arena, they picked up their first home  win, bumping their record up to 3-6.
 Everything went Point Arena's way against Willits in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024, as Point Arena made off with  a  17-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
