Softball Recap: Bucklin Red Aces vs. Spearville Lancers
After flying high against Spearville on Monday, Bucklin came back down to earth. The Bucklin Red Aces fell victim to a rough 12-2 defeat at the hands of the Spearville Lancers on Monday. Bucklin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Spearville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played.
For Spearville's part, Faith Ackerman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Ackerman was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and a triple.
In other batting news, Makiah Kliesen was incredible, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Kendal Ratzlaff was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Bucklin has fallen quite a ways from their 14-7 record last season and are now at 1-2-1. As for Spearville, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Bucklin is on the road again on Friday to play Skyline. As for Spearville, they will play host again on Friday to welcome Elkhart, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:00 p.m.
