Baseball Recap: Collinsville Find Success

Collinsville hadn't done well against Fyffe recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Panthers walked away with an 8-3 win over the Red Devils. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 last Tuesday.

Zach Clanton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Lang, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Middlebrooks, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Collinsville and bumps their season record up to 15-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Fyffe, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Collinsville will challenge North Sand Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fyffe, they will square off against Hardy Memorial at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
