Baseball Game Preview: Holy Trinity Tigers vs. Jones Eagles

The Holy Trinity Tigers will head out to challenge the Jones Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Holy Trinity took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Hancock with a sharp 19-9 win. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Jones sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Kennedy on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Jack Hiltz made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellis Alexander, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christophe DeWijkerslooth, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Jones kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Holy Trinity pushed their record up to 2-2 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Jones, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Holy Trinity couldn't quite finish off Jones when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 14-12. Can Holy Trinity avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
