The East St. Louis Flyers waltzed into their contest on Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 71-70 victory over Christian Brothers. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

East St. Louis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Powell led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Powell hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Davis Bynum was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.

East St. Louis is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Christian Brothers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
