Volleyball Recap: Newton's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Newton hadn't beaten Effingham on the road since October 15, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Hearts 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won four contests in a row.

Newton was led to victory by Morgan Schafer and Hydi Bierman. Schafer had 11 digs, while Bierman had nine digs and six kills. Bierman is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Effingham, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 19-12.

Newton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield on the 18th. As for Effingham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Edwards County on the 18th.
