Basketball Game Preview: St. Henry Redskins vs. New Bremen Cardinals

The St. Henry Redskins will be taking part in a tournament against the New Bremen Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Henry will be strutting in after a victory while New Bremen will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, St. Henry was able to grind out a solid win over Memorial, taking the game 48-38. Given the Redskins' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Roughriders are ranked 585th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlie Werling was the offensive standout of the match as he went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three). Brody Schwartz was another key player, putting up three points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, New Bremen came up short against Coldwater on Friday and fell 61-49. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now lost three in a row.

St. Henry is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. As for New Bremen, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 10-12.

St. Henry was able to grind out a solid victory over New Bremen in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 56-49. Will St. Henry repeat their success, or does New Bremen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
