Football Recap: Gilroy Comes Up Short

Gilroy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-6. They were beaten by the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs 42-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 2, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Christian Lacriox threw for 98 yards on 11 of 20 attempts. Mitch Friebel was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards. On the ground, Michael Lopez rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown.

As for Ann Sobrato, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Brayden Hughes, who threw for 248 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 40 yards. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gilroy will square off against rival Leland at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ann Sobrato is set to face off against their familiar foe Gunderson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
