Baseball Recap: East Chicago Central Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for East Chicago Central's offense. They came up short against the Hammond Baptist Swordsmen on Friday, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cardinals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

East Chicago Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamonta Morris, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

East Chicago Central dropped their record down to 6-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Hammond Baptist, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Looking ahead, East Chicago Central will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bowman Academy at 5:00 p.m. As for Hammond Baptist, they will be taking part in a tournament against 21st Century Charter on Saturday.
