Soccer Game Preview: Portal vs. Trion

The Portal Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Trion Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Portal is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Atkinson County 12-5. It was an even better day for Colby Stewart as she scored seven goals for her team.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Monday. Trion's defense stepped up to hand Georgia Military College a 4-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Trion's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Georgia Military College is ranked 246th).

Portal is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 43 goals over those eight matches. As for Trion, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
