Basketball Recap: Greene Central Beats North Pitt for Their Third Straight Win + How To Watch

Greene Central extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 68-64 W against the North Pitt Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Greene Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deitrich Williams led the charge by putting up 15 points and seven steals. The contest was Williams' third in a row with at least 15 points. Josh Cetnar was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

Greene Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

As for North Pitt, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points over those games.

That was a full 54.7% of the Panthers' points, marking the third time in a row Pittman has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dontavius Roberson, who put up six points and ten boards.

Greene Central has already played their next matchup (against SouthWest Edgecombe), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for North Pitt, they will challenge North Lenoir at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
