Ryan Vanek turned in yet another pitching appearance with fewer than two earned runs surrendered on Thursday. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Reed's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't).
