Volleyball Recap: Pleasanton Takes a Loss

If Pleasanton was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Jefferson on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Natalia Mustangs on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Natalia scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Natalia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Liliana Saenz, who had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs gave Saenz a new career-high.

Pleasanton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Natalia, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Pleasanton and Natalia will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to take on their familiar foe Uvalde at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Natalia will face off against rival Poteet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
