Franklin County is 2-8 against Connersville since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will head out to face off against the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Connersville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Franklin County, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, Franklin County was able to grind out a solid win over Batesville, taking the game 7-4. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Brooke Stang, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Billman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Franklin County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Connersville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Pendleton Heights by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since March 26th.
Connersville saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Green, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. Addie Phillips also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Franklin County's record is now 9-6. As for Connersville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Franklin County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Connersville struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin County couldn't quite finish off Connersville in their previous meeting back in April and fell 10-8. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
