Baseball Game Preview: Castle Rock Rockets vs. Seton Catholic Cougars

Castle Rock hasn't had much luck against Seton Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rockets will head out to face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Castle Rock turned things around against Heritage on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Timberwolves by a score of 4-1.

Seton Catholic came out on top against Castle Rock on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 12-5 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Jack Williams looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryker Ruelas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Teddy Wieczorek, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Castle Rock, their win bumped their record up to 10-6-1.

Castle Rock might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Seton Catholic in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
