Baseball Recap: Plant City Wins Going Away Against Palm Harbor University

It's playoff time, and Plant City had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes with a sharp 14-4 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Plant City let Keegan Wilkerson and Drew Cothren run wild. Wilkerson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Cothren got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Wilkerson a new career-high. Salvadore Jaramillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Plant City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Plant City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Palm Harbor University, they moved to 14-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Plant City has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Strawberry Crest on the 15th. Palm Harbor University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
