Basketball Recap: Tornillo Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Tornillo's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They managed a 55-51 victory over the Fort Hancock Mustangs. This was a revenge game for the Coyotes: when they faced off against the Mustangs last Tuesday, they had to take a 48-47 defeat.

Fort Hancock's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Hernandez, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Apodaca, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Tornillo's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Fort Hancock, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Tornillo will venture away from home to challenge Bowie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tornillo is facing Bowie at the right time seeing as Bowie is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Fort Hancock, they will be taking part in a tournament against Marfa at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marfa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
