Baseball Recap: Greenville Takes a Loss

Greenville extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 16-13 in the process. They lost 21-4 to the Kenowa Hills Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Yellow Jackets have suffered since April 30th.

Greenville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Lisagor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Bryant Merritt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Kenowa Hills, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-7-1. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Kenowa Hills' side, Zac McCarthy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave McCarthy a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Peebles was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Payton Paiz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

While Greenville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
