Basketball Game Preview: Potlatch Loggers vs. Kamiah Kubs

Potlatch and Kamiah are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Potlatch Loggers are taking a road trip to square off against the Kamiah Kubs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Potlatch will be strutting in after a victory while Kamiah will be coming in after a defeat.

Potlatch is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They secured a 48-43 W over Logos on Monday. The Loggers didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Potlatch can attribute much of their success to Kathryn Burnette, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards, and Brieanna Winther, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points. Burnette's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Mitchell, who posted five points in addition to ten assists and six boards.

Potlatch was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kamiah might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Prairie an easy 54-30 victory. The loss continues a trend for the Kubs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Potlatch's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Kamiah, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Potlatch suffered a grim 54-29 defeat to Kamiah in their previous matchup back in January. Can Potlatch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
