Baseball Recap: Cane Bay Comes Up Short

Cane Bay lost to Wando on Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cobras fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-4. The Cobras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Owen Curry put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Cane Bay: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

Curry wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Cayden Haught also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cane Bay now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Wando, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.

While Cane Bay had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
