Baseball Recap: Belton-Honea Path Finds Home Field Redemption Against Pendleton

There's no place like home for Belton-Honea Path, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against the Pendleton Bulldogs on Wednesday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since April 23, 2024.

Ethan McElveen looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Belton-Honea Path is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tye Kelley, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Preston Dixon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Belton-Honea Path has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. With the defeat, Pendleton broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Belton-Honea Path will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pendleton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
