Baseball Game Preview: Floyd Broncos vs. Melrose Buffaloes

Floyd is on a nine-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Melrose a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Floyd Broncos will look to defend their home field against the Melrose Buffaloes at 2:00 p.m. Floyd has given up an average of 18.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Floyd is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 20-14 to Dora on Monday. Even though they lost, the Broncos' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Floyd got a massive performance out of Logan Van Leuven, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adan Nieto, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, Melrose came up short against Gateway Christian on Monday and fell 9-6.

Jaxon Odom and Josh Roybal did some serious damage despite the final result: Odom went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Roybal went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Odom is becoming a predictor of Melrose's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nolan Devaney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Melrose's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Floyd, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
