Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Atlanta Takes a Loss

Cristo Rey Atlanta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Dominion Christian Knights and fell 66-33. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Cristo Rey Atlanta this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-33 on January 9th.

Dominion Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emory Maiyer, who posted 26 points along with eight steals and six boards. Maiyer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Elizabeth Johnson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Cristo Rey Atlanta's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Dominion Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey Atlanta has already played their next match (against West Hall), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dominion Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fulton Science Academy at 6:00 p.m.
