Preview: Carey Blue Devils vs. Colonel Crawford Eagles

Carey has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Carey Blue Devils and the Colonel Crawford Eagles will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Carey has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Saturday, Carey's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Columbus Grove by a score of 52-44.
Riley Yost was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Rachel Reinhart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Colonel Crawford put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 40-29 victory over Mt. Gilead. Given Colonel Crawford's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Mt. Gilead is ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carey pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. Colonel Crawford's record now sits at 9-0.
Carey won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January, slipping by Colonel Crawford 36-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carey since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
