Softball Recap: Franklin Triumphs

Franklin lost to Cosumnes Oaks back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Wildcats skirted past the Wolfpack 13-11. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Madison Ortega and Mya Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Ortega went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Wilson went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Ortega also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Angel Estrada, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Franklin will venture away from home to take on Monterey Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cosumnes Oaks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
