Football Recap: Kemper County Wildcats vs. East Webster Wolverines
Kemper County played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 49-20 defeat at the hands of the East Webster Wolverines. The Wildcats were down 42-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabriel Murray, who rushed for 75 yards, and also threw for 25 yards and one touchdown.
East Webster got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was RT Moye out in front who rushed for 147 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, and also caught one score. Those 147 rushing yards gave Moye a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kross Avent, who threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Kemper County's record is now 1-5. As for East Webster, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kemper County is set to face off against their familiar foe Velma Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Webster will square off against rival Philadelphia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
