Softball Recap: Benson Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

After only two runs in their last matchup, Benson made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pima on Monday. The Bobcats blew past the Roughriders 21-4. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Millie Kellogg and Sadie Webb did most of the damage at the plate: Kellogg scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Webb scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Kellogg has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylei Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Benson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Benson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Pima, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Looking ahead, Benson will challenge Santa Cruz Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dust Devils have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Pima, they will be playing at home against San Carlos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Roughriders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
