League recap: Wynnewood tops Wewoka to extend winning streak

Wynnewood extended the longest winning streak in A District 5 this week by beating Wewoka, 63-12. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Savages.

Wayne took down Maysville 60-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Wynnewood's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jace Brown threw for 156 and two touchdowns and Levi Phillips had 67 yards receiving. On the ground Trey Knowles chipped in 132 yards. Gus Reinert helped Wynnewood's passing attack out by catching one ball for 40 yards.

Wynnewood's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Savages feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 1442 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Phillips has 19 catches for 440 yards. Knowles leads the league in rushing with 1143 yards.

Tanner Grace has rushed for 933 yards on 155 carries so far this year.

Elmore City-Pernell made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,987 from 9,800. The advance stemmed from a 35-14 victory over Stratford last week.
