Volleyball Game Preview: Northeast Hurricanes vs. Hollywood Hills Spartans

The Northeast Hurricanes will venture away from home to challenge the Hollywood Hills Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Northeast is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against McArthur, falling 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Hills came up short against Flanagan on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-11, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Hollywood Hills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christian Hernandez had 21 digs and one assist. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Duane Floyd, who had 11 kills and four blocks.

Hollywood Hills suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 2-8. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Northeast might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Hollywood Hills when the teams last played back in March. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
