League recap: League leaders Lincoln-Sudbury and Newton South to clash this week

On Thursday, the top two teams in the current league standings will go head to head, as Lincoln-Sudbury and Newton South meet. The Warriors currently hold a 1.0-game lead over the Lions for first place.

Nick Neshe was the best pitcher in the league this week. He accumulated one win and eight strikeouts.

Waltham boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Hawks' pitchers have been charged with only 89 hits and have struck out 85 batters. Joe Dwyer is tops on the staff with 32 Ks.

Waltham stole 13 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 44 steals on the year. Given the green light by manager Steve Laforest, Neshe has racked up nine steals on his own this season for the Hawks.
