Volleyball Recap: Irene/Wakonda Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Addison Brockmueller and Ava George

After flying high against Marty Indian on Thursday, Irene/Wakonda came back down to earth. The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canistota Hawks on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Irene/Wakonda started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-15.

Irene/Wakonda's loss came despite strong showings from Ava George and Addison Brockmueller. George had ten digs, while Brockmueller had 11 digs and one assist.

Irene/Wakonda's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-15. As for Canistota, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-17.

Irene/Wakonda wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Viborg/Hurley on the 21st. As for Canistota, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Sioux Falls Lutheran on the 21st.
