Softball Recap: Larkin Royals vs. Aurora East Tomcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against DeKalb, Larkin was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Aurora East Tomcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-3 back in April.

Mackenzie Wemken made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wemken was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Larkin got a massive performance out of Ali Herrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Herrick has posted since back in April of 2024. Julissa Aguinaga was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Larkin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Looking ahead, Larkin will welcome South Elgin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Storm will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Aurora East, they will head out on the road to take on Streamwood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tomcats are facing the Sabres at the right time seeing as the Sabres are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
