Softball Game Preview: Irving Tigers vs. Richardson Eagles

Irving is 1-8 against Richardson since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Irving Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Richardson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Irving has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Irving is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Richardson on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 11-1.

Shantia Haymer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Richardson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.2 runs. Irving's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-12-1.
