Maty Mauk throws for 586 yards, eight touchdowns

Kenton (Ohio) junior extends national passing lead with another huge night through the air during 62-20 playoff win.

Junior quarterback Maty Mauk had one of his finest games of the year Friday night as Kenton (Ohio) crushed Carlisle, 62-20, in a Division IV regional quarterfinal.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder completed 24 of 46 passes for 586 yards and eight touchdowns, according to the Lima News. Four of his scoring tosses went at least 45 yards. He also ran 15 times for 51 yards and one touchdown.

Mauk, the younger brother of national passing record-holder Ben Mauk, has now completed 317 of 482 this season, for 4,895 yards and 61 touchdowns. Ben's single-season national marks were passing yards (6,540) and attempts (674), and he is No. 2 all-time in completions (413) and touchdown passes (76).

Kenton receiver Dustin Howell caught eight passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns. Teammate Max Morrison also snared eight passes, accounting for 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Wildcats led the previously unbeaten Indians, 48-0, at halftime and their defense wound up picking off four passes.



Morrison came into the week with a national-best 107 receptions for 1,524 yards and 21 touchdowns.
