Baseball Game Preview: Roy Royals vs. Box Elder Bees

For the second straight game, Roy will face off against Box Elder. The Royals will host the Bees at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Roy came out on top against Box Elder on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Royals blew past the Bees 8-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Royals have posted against the Bees since May 9, 2019.

Cache Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Logan Vorwaller and Jace Barela did most of the damage at the plate: Vorwaller went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Barela earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Roy is undefeated when Vorwaller posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Baty, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Roy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-14. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Box Elder, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
