Game recap: San Dimas High School Football Team beats Pomona

SAN DIMAS, Calif. - San Dimas (Calif.) snapped the nine-game winning streak of Pomona (Calif.), with a 49-6 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Joesph Mayorga touchdown run in the first quarter, the Saints led 28-6 at the half.

San Dimas expanded its lead to 43 points entering the fourth quarter. SD scored three times in the third, including once on a Mayorga touchdown run.

With the win the Saints extended their winning streak to six games. San Dimas defeated Covina 49-14 last week.

Pomona's only touchdown came on a 20-yard pass from Darreon Lockett to Desmond Bobo in the second quarter.

The Red Devils came in surrendering 10.6 points per game this season. Pomona struggled against San Dimas' offense, which entered the game scoring 36.9 points per game. Coming into the game SD had allowed 21.8 points per game this year. The Saints held firm on the defensive front, and kept PHS well below the 49.4 points it had been averaging per game.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-14 win for San Dimas.

The loss comes after Pomona defeated Nogales 51-6 last week.

In its next matchup SD (6-4) will take on Northview in a Valle Vista game. The Vikings enter the contest having posted a 7-2.
