Baseball Recap: Timber Creek Regional Takes a Loss

Timber Creek Regional fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Haddon Heights on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Garnets by a score of 2-1. The Chargers were not able to make up for their loss to the Garnets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Anthony Hedenberg was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Timber Creek Regional is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Timber Creek Regional saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Scanlan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Devan Giacchetto also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Timber Creek Regional and nudges their season record down to 9-11. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Haddon Heights, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-7.

Coming up, Timber Creek Regional will be playing at home against Camden County Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. Haddon Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
