Soccer Game Preview: Rhea County vs. Cumberland County

The Rhea County Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Cumberland County Jets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Rhea County's offense. They fell just short of Cleveland by a score of 1-0 on Friday. Rhea County have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cumberland County had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 goals) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for Cumberland County, who have now won seven games by three goals or more so far this season.

Cumberland County pushed their record up to 9-2-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those five contests. As for Rhea County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Rhea County came up short against Cumberland County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
