A feisty cat fight will be fought as Brighton Cardinals duke it out with Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Brighton and Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central will really light up the scoreboard.
While Brighton's win against Houston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Brighton skirted past Houston 11-10. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Laney Lawson spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Brighton got a massive performance out of Aliya Garcia, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two home runs gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maggie Livingston, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Brighton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central got themselves on the board against Clarksburg on Tuesday, but Clarksburg never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Rockets as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Madison Holder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Holder was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Keely Williams was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Lilly McGee was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Brighton, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
