Softball Recap: Villa Joseph Marie Triumphs

Villa Joseph Marie won the last time they faced Gwynedd Mercy Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Jems came out on top in a nail-biter against the Monarchs, sneaking past 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jems.

Delaney Radtke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lindsay Rooney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-8. As for Gwynedd Mercy Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Coming up, Gwynedd Mercy Academy will head out to square off against Merion Mercy Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. Villa Joseph Marie will be paying especially close attention to Gwynedd Mercy Academy's game: after Gwynedd Mercy Academy faces off against Merion Mercy Academy, they'll take on Villa Joseph Marie again at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
